Let's tackle the elephant in the room, ChatGPT. It's undeniably cool, but is it really the fairy godmother of content we've all been hoping for? Let's take a closer look at the pros and cons...
AI-Generated Content: What's All the Hype?
When I mention AI-generated content, I'm referring to text magically whipped up by a machine, including things like blog posts, articles, and other nifty content. Sounds amazing, right? But hold on a second, because it's not all a bed of roses.
AI-Generated Content: The Good Stuff
1. Speed Demon - Need content? Don't blink, or you'll miss it! Okay, maybe not that fast, but AI can produce articles at lightning speed compared to us mere mortals.
2. Writer's Block Be Gone - Hit a creative wall? No worries! AI can shower you with ideas, making getting started a piece of cake.
3. It can help proofread your work - yes really!
AI-Generated Content: The Not-So-Good Stuff
1. Copycat Alert - AI's a bit of a copycat. It borrows from everywhere and anywhere, but isn't so keen on giving credit where it's due. Keep an eye out for copyright issues, which Google has a BIG issue with and will lower your ranking score, making it harder to get seen online.
2. Google's Skeptical Glance - Google's got this E-E-A-T thing going on, and it's not about food. It stands for:
Experience Expertise Authoritativeness Trustworthiness
In short, AI content can get the side-eye from Google if it's not sprinkled with unique, human-written insights.
3. Quality Coin Toss - AI's a bit unpredictable. Sometimes it nails it, sometimes it misses the mark entirely. It's a roll of the dice.
4. Missing the Human Touch - At the end of the day, AI lacks that certain something, that je ne sais quoi. You will need to give it some human TLC to make it feel less robotic and more, well, human. It's also rubbish at humour and you can forget sarcasm (it is coded in the USA after all)
It also has no idea of how to write so humans deeply connect with its content. It's a robot and therefore has 0 feelings, emotions, wants or needs, and empathy - forget it! You know, erm, all the good stuff that helps you connect with your audience, leading to genuine followers and customers.
It's totally heartless and I feel quite sorry for it actually (that's the human in me talking!) The Bottom Line...
Google's got a 'thing' for high-quality, human-written, and useful content that's made for and by PEOPLE.
AI tools like ChatGPT are like the shiny new toys everyone's talking about. But remember, they're more like sidekicks than superheroes.
So, while they can lend a helping hand, make sure you're still in the driver's seat! Becky x
Ps. I know what you're all wondering - do I use it? In being fully transparent, the answer is yes, now and then to get ideas, or get started, but, never, ever, ever, for all the reasons above, will I do a copy/paste job. EVER. It's just not worth it.
Now, which parts were written by Becky and which by AI? I'm going to let you guess ...
