Below is my personal story, my WHY.
Somebody asked me how I found my passion for Marketing. It was a winding path that's for sure, but the best ones always are, right?....

At the tender age of 21, I found myself as a solo mum to a teeny 3lb baby.
I discovered I was carrying a little life inside me at 3 months gone, and my little boy, Adam, decided to make an early entrance into the world 4 months later, at seven months gestation.
His premature birth and frail condition were a huge shock, and I won't lie, I was absolutely petrified. With only a few months to brace myself for this colossal life change, I was feeling very overwhelmed to say the least.
The early days were hard, as I couldn't hold him properly due to his fragile health. However, when I looked into his eyes, the trusting look he'd give me filled my heart and became my main source of inspiration from then on. It was touch and go for weeks, but Adam was a little fighter and after 2 months of round-the-clock care in the neonatal unit he was able to come home.
He didn't know it then, but he quickly became my guiding light, influencing each and every decision I made from that moment on. His surprise arrival, as tough as it was, brought me a sense of purpose I'd been missing. He sparked a newfound determination within me that fueled my every move.
Motivated by this newfound drive, and while I worked in a retail job during the day, my lovely Mum stepped in to look after Adam in the evenings, allowing me to take a night course in marketing.
Post-college, I landed my first role as a Marketing Assistant at a childcare nursery chain. We were just scraping by financially, but each day was a step in the right direction to creating a stable future for us both. I was incredibly fortunate to receive a helping hand from the CEO at the time, who supported my marketing qualifications and helped towards childcare provision. That's a kindness I'll never forget.
And so, as the saying goes, the rest is history & fast forward to today, I'm setting up a Marketing business of my very own!
Adam's now the same age I was when I became pregnant with him. Looking at my 20-year-old lad, my heart bursts with pride. He has grown into a strong, kind-hearted young man, dedicating himself to his studies at Sheffield Uni. Every single challenge we faced over these past two decades together is worth it when I see the man he's become. The bond we have because of it is unbreakable.
My tale isn't unique, nor is it a 'woe is me' - in fact, quite the opposite.
It's a gentle reminder that life's unexpected twists and turns, although sometimes tough, and seem impossible at the time, can shape us, guiding us towards our true destination. And, it's a little note to any woman out there finding herself in a similar situation right now, balancing work, children, and the whirlwind of life, that you are doing just fine. And Mama, you've totally got this! Becky x
